KAREN LAUKE IS A SOUND DESIGNER, COMPOSER AND SOUND ARTIST WITH EXPERIENCE OF CREATING AND PRODUCING SOUND AND MUSIC FOR THEATRE, LIVE PERFORMANCE, INSTALLATION, EXHIBITION AND MOST RECENTLY, FILM. IN ADDITION TO TRADITIONAL THEATRE SOUND DESIGN, KAREN ALSO WORKS WITH FIELD RECORDINGS, VIDEO AND TEXT, CREATING WORKS THAT RESPOND TO LOCAL SITUATIONS, ENVIRONMENTS AND PLACE. HER SITE-SPECIFIC PUBLIC ARTWORKS EXPERIMENT WITH SOUND AS THE MAIN FOCAL POINT AND INCORPORATE MANY DIFFERENT FORMS OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY.

24:7 THEATRE PRODUCTIONS, HOME RE:PLAY FESTIVAL, REGIONAL THEATRE TOUR (THROUGHOUT 2015)

WAR STORIES IS A COLLABORATIVE PIECE SET DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR OFFERING A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON AUSTRALIA IN THE WAR. THE PIECE WAS WRITTEN BY TWO WRITERS, ONE BASED IN ENGLAND AND THE OTHER IN AUSTRALIA, WHO WROTE THE ENTIRE PLAY VIA EMAIL AND SKYPE. THE SOUND DESIGN/COMPOSITION RUNS CONTINUOUSLY THROUGHOUT THE PLAY, PROVIDING EVER EVOLVING TEXTURES AND ATMOSPHERES TO SUPPORT THE UNDERLYING NARRATIVE.

A NATIONAL MUSEUMS LIVERPOOL PROJECT, WITH THE DRAMA CREATED AND DELIVERED BY COLLECTIVE ENCOUNTERS
MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL (2013) AND NATIONAL TOUR (2014)

HOUSE OF MEMORIES IS A MUSEUM DEMENTIA AWARENESS TRAINING PROGRAMME DEVELOPED AND DELIVERED BY NATIONAL MUSEUMS LIVERPOOL. COLLECTIVE ENCOUNTERSHAS BEEN COMMISSIONED TO PRODUCE A PIECE OF THEATRE THAT SUPPORTS THE TRAINING DAY. THE TRAINING CENTRES ON THE FANTASTIC OBJECTS, ARCHIVES AND LIFE STORIES, HELD WITHIN THE MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL. IT AIMS TO PROVIDE SOCIAL CARE STAFF (IN CARE HOME AND HOME CARE SETTINGS) WITH NEW SKILLS AND RESOURCES TO SHARE WITH PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA, THAT WILL POSITIVELY CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WELLBEING AND QUALITY OF LIFE, AND OFFER POTENTIAL ALTERNATIVES TO MEDICATION.
